Syntune introduces the world's smallest 10G tunable transmitter
Stockholm, Sweden (March 21, 2007) – Syntune AB, a developer of innovative single-chip tunable lasers and transmitters, today announced it is sampling the S4500, the world's first truly monolithic, integrated 10 Gb/s tunable transmitter. The S4500 is a full C-band tunable transmitter based on a single chip and placed in a compact form factor package designed for incorporation into a SFF 300-pin transponder and other small form factor packages.
Syntune's patented monolithic design minimizes size, power consumption and cost while still allowing the fastest possible tuning speeds. The S4500 operates between -5 to 75 degrees C with typical power consumption of less than 2.0 Watts and a maximum power consumption of 3.6 Watts at 75 degrees C. Driven with a push-pull RF signal, the S4500 works as a zero chirp transmitter with high extinction ratio and low dispersion penalty across a dispersion range from -800 to +800 ps/nm.
Products using Syntune's S4500 widely tunable transmitter are an effective replacement for the hundreds of fixed wavelength WDM solutions employed in current telecom systems.
